School

Well, the first week of school went VERY well for Chris. Out of his class of 22, he has 3 other kiddos from his Kindergarten class - enough to feel comfortable, and little enough to make a lot of new friends (in my opinion).

I am thrilled that we were able to get him into full day Kindergarten last year. Our school only has 1 out of 5 full day Kindergarten classes - the other 4 are half day. We did have to pay for the "extra" half day, but I think it really helped him to become confident with his work this year.

He did come home on Thursday and told me that they had to take a math test to show his teacher what they knew - Ms. Kohler told them that it would be really hard and they may not know all the answers. Chris was thrilled as he blazed thru it and knew all the answers - there's my math and science guy.

On Monday, is our placement meeting for Libby. She turns 3 on Nov 30th, so right around 90 days before her birthday, they evaluate her. Just with her DS diagnosis, she'll qualify for the district's pre-school - I think this will help place her in a specific school. I'm not too worried about this yet as she also starts a private pre-school after Labor Day - it's in a different school district, so she cannot receive her therapies there, but we do have the option of adding additional therapies if we would like.

All in all, the school situation for both kids is going VERY well in our house. I hope we start off on a "good foot" with the school district on Monday!!!
