My friend Meredith and her husband Mike travelled earlier this year to the Ukraine to adopt 2 adorable kiddos that had Down syndrome. You can read about their journey here.
Their oldest, Emma, has needed heart surgery since birth. About 50% of kids with Down syndrome have heart issues and need surgery to correct. Emma didn't receive that surgery and laid in her orphanage until Meredith and Mike came to get her to bring her home.
Tomorrow morning (Monday), Emma will undergo her much needed surgery. The Cornish's have been told by many doctor's that this couldn't be done, but fought hard to find someone that would do it.
