While Scott was getting all of these evergreen bushes cut out of there, he saw something move and saw a duck fly out of our bush. Upon looking closer, he saw that there were about a dozen eggs in a nest. He worked around the nest for the next few hours - once we started getting dinner ready, Mama duck came back and sat on her eggs -- she never went far and watched Scott as he worked.
I talked to the Colorado Department of Wildlife and this "active" nest is federally protected, so we could get into A LOT of trouble if we mess with it (are you hearing me, honey???) The gal I talked to said that another wild animal could definitely come by and scare the duck and eat the eggs, which is just part of nature. She thought that they should hatch within the next week or so and then the Mama will get her babies out of there as quickly as possible.
Here are a few pictures of Mama Duck:

I'll try to update on our Duck Saga as thing progress - - I can't wait to hopefully see a nest of baby ducks!!!
